Regular price
$575.00
Very large Rococo style, Fete Galante painting in the style of François Boucher. 105" x 25 1/2", oil on unstretched canvas. Dates to mid-18th century. Depicts a boy playing a horn with a dog in a wooded scene. (The piece is too tall to photograph on my wall. In the second picture, 72" is draped over the front and 33" over the back.)
Canvas has many later repairs to loss of canvas and some small areas have been repainted. Canvas has several small holes, some patched areas. Despite wear, the canvas is still flexible and the paint is still bright, though faded/discolored in some areas.
From the original contents of Lyndhurst Plantation, Jefferson County, Florida, built in 1850.
